Want a straighter smile but don't want to deal with brackets and wires? Our Surrey Straight Smile dentists use Invisalign® to straighten teeth without the need for metal braces. Here are the 3 steps in the Invisalign journey to a straight new smile.
How to Straighten Your Smile With Invisalign
Achieving a straighter smile with Invisalign can be as easy as 1-2-3! Here are the 3 easy steps to transforming your smile with Invisalign clear aligners:
1 - Your Invisalign Consultation
The first step in your journey to a straighter smile is to book an Invisalign consultation with your Surrey Straight Smile dentist, to determine whether you are a good candidate for treatment with Invisalign clear aligners.
Many orthodontic issues from simple to more complex can be corrected with Invisalign. From the most simple misalignments to more severe spacing and bite issues the clear aligners can help to gradually shift your teeth into their correct positions.
At the consultation, your dentist will assess your smile and determine your treatment needs. If Invisalign treatment is right for you, your dentist will then take detailed 3D scans of your teeth and jaw using the iTero Element® intraoral scanner. These 3D images help your dentist to accurately map out a customized treatment plan for your smile, and allow you to have a virtual preview of what your smile could look like after your Invisalign treatment is complete.
2 - Treatment to Transform Your Smile
Once your custom aligners are ready to be picked-up, you will meet with your dentist once again for a fitting. The dentist will take the time to ensure your aligners fit properly, explain everything you need to know to keep your treatment on-track, and answer your questions. There will also be a brief review of your treatment plan, so that you are clear about what you can expect from your Invisalign treatment.
Now it's time to get started! To achieve the desired results it is essential to wear your aligners for a minimum of 20 - 22 hours every day. Not following these instructions will result in treatment delays.
3 - Keeping Your Straight New Smile Beautiful
If you follow your Invisalign treatment instructions closely, at end of your Invisalign treatment you will have a straighter smile that is bound to boost your self-confidence and get you grinning.
While your teeth settle into their new positions you will need to wear a retainer. Retainers are an important step in most orthodontic treatments, including braces. At first you may need to wear a retainer full-time while your teeth settle into their new positions, but gradually you will be able to begin wearing your retainer part-time, or only at night.
